Description    :Body ovate and compressed. Head short, compressed. Snout sharp. Mouth wide, protractile, extending to front border of orbit or slightly beyond. Posterior nostril vertically oval. Eyes large, superior. Preorbital edge with four serrae. Lips thin. Lower jaw strongly projecting. Jaws, palate and tongue with villiform teeth. Two dorsal fins; the two fins continuous. Caudal fin forked. Scales cycloid, very small. Yellowish - olive, covered all over with minute black dots, which, on shoulder, are collected into an oblong patch, having its longest diameter vertical; summit of the head and top of the eyes black. Fins orange, upper half of first dorsal deep black; a dark upper edge to second dorsal; caudal dark with a light outer margin; anal with a black mark over the bases of the spines. In some specimens, the caudal is black - tipped.
